wildfire continues to burn out of control with flames shooting as high as 80-feet and destroying a number of homes. thousands of people have been forced to evacuate and a state of emergency has been declared. we have team coverage on the fire this morning. ken and les are standing by to discuss air quality and road closures related to the fire. peter dawson is live the red cross shelter in hesperia. to give us an update on evacuations.. but first... mike doria joins us live near hesperia. mike you talked with people on the road, how are they holding up. the fire is 0% contained with now 18,000 acres burning. helicopters of been flying overnight dousing hotspots and flames with water and fire retardant. more than 82,000 told to evacuate from wildfire a fast-moving

bernardino county has been shooting flames 80 feet high and has become a 28-square-mile monster that's burned a number of homes. tens of thousands of people have been forced to flee, including the ski resort town of wrht ranchlands 60 miles east of los angeles have been devoured. the i-15 is closed in both directions at the cajon pass and more than 85,000 residents have been encouraged to evacuate. an estimated 34,000 homes have now been affected by the fire and more threatened by the fire. the dryness due to a longstanding drought coupled with heavy winds fanned the flames causing them to spread rapidly. several shelters are set up -- the on in hesperia where we are at sultana high school. for truck drivers trying to make deliveries its a test of patience right now. "he was about saving houses, and saving people's lives, and saving property. that's what he was about and that's what he wanted to be remembered for." that's what hotshot firefighter justin beebe's father said about his son after he was killed saturday when a falling

sandoval is ordering all flags to be flown at half staff to honor a firefighter who died in the line of duty over the weekend.
